Hello, I’m Hollie.

I am a University lecturer with a research master’s in Political Psychology and an interest in the areas of ecofeminism, power structures and the social and political empowerment of women and people from marginalised communities. Through my research I aim to expose the barriers to women’s political and social empowerment, and bring awareness to the impacts of gender injustice on women’s minds and bodies.

Prior to undertaking my master’s degree, I spent over a decade working as a mechanical and structural engineer. Women working in politics and STEM are at the forefront of battles waged on gender equality in Western society. I took a career study break to conduct a trauma-informed research master’s to help me make sense of the psychological impact male hegemonic power has on women in the social world. My final thesis submission was an investigation into the psychological impact of political discourse on women. With the knowledge I have gained, coupled with my lived experience, I hope to help women to subvert the psychological abuse that exists in the social world by exposing the mechanisms that reinforce male hegemonic power and ultimately achieve social, political and financial empowerment.
